WCR brings together nine board-certified physicians and one board-certified family nurse practitioner. Every investigator supports communication in English and Spanish.
Family Medicine
Dr. Flores is a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 25 years of clinical practice and extensive Phase I-IV research experience across gastroenterology, dermatology, metabolic disease, diabetes, obesity, respiratory disease, vaccines, neurology, pain, and women’s health.
Dermatology and Internal Medicine
Dr. Rodriguez is board certified in dermatology and internal medicine. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, his research background spans psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, acne, rosacea, prurigo nodularis, actinic keratosis, and other dermatologic conditions.
Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine
Dr. Rodriguez is a board-certified internal medicine physician and gastroenterologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience. His research areas include ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, IBS, constipation, GERD, and other gastrointestinal disorders.
Family Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Chavez-Frezek is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with clinical research experience since 2015 across gastroenterology, dermatology, vaccines, respiratory disease, pediatrics, cardiometabolic conditions, and pain management.
General and Family Medicine
Dr. Albizu-Angulo is a board-certified physician with approximately 20 years of clinical practice and broad Phase I-IV experience in obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular risk, inflammatory bowel disease, vaccines, asthma, migraine, and metabolic disease.
Pediatrics
Dr. Candelario is a board-certified pediatrician with more than 30 years of clinical experience. Her research background includes vaccines, pediatric migraine, eosinophilic asthma, ulcerative colitis, and other community health needs.
Primary Care
Dr. Rivera Ortega is a board-certified primary care physician with approximately 20 years of experience in primary care and emergency medicine, along with research experience in obesity, metabolic disease, and internal medicine indications.
General Medicine
Dr. Santos Marrero is a board-certified physician whose research experience includes obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular risk, eosinophilic asthma, vaccines, and other metabolic and respiratory indications.
Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine
Dr. Class is a board-certified gastroenterologist with research experience focused on ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
Cardiology and Internal Medicine
Dr. Rivera Arce is a board-certified internal medicine physician and cardiologist. His background includes cardiovascular disease, arrhythmias, metabolic risk, immunology, public health, neuroscience, and translational medical research.
