A Phase 3 obesity maintenance study
SURMOUNT-4 enrolled adults with obesity or overweight and a weight-related complication, excluding diabetes. Participants first received tirzepatide during a 36-week open-label lead-in period before eligible participants were randomized to continue tirzepatide or switch to placebo.
The trial evaluated the effect of continued treatment on maintenance and further change in body weight through Week 88.
